About Tracey

What and how I teach Yoga and QiGong help people feel better about their bodies and give them tools to navigate the world so that they can age actively and well.

About Tracey Drake Yoga

I have been teaching yoga since 2006 and have over 1,000 hours and counting of training. Today, my teaching centers on providing a yoga experience that is supportive and adapted to the aging process we all (hopefully) experience.

I recognize that everyone is unique, so I focus on function, not form. I really don’t care what your poses look like—I do care that you gain the intended benefit from them. My goal is for my students to leave our practices feeling ease and comfort in their bodies and a calm, contented mind, carrying these feelings into their everyday lives.

Yoga changed my life when I began taking classes in 2001, not just by improving my strength and mobility but by helping me learn to quiet the constant dialogue spinning in my mind.

Yoga is more than practicality for me—it’s a passion. Much of my spare time is spent studying yoga in all its forms. It’s a vast, amazing subject where learning never ends. I’ve extensively studied yin, hatha, restorative yoga, anatomy, yogic and Taoist philosophy, and five-element and subtle channel theory (TCM). I love blending these traditional teachings with modern science in my studies and classes.

In 2024, inspired by personal experiences with Alzheimer’s in my family, I became certified as a Brain Longevity™ Specialist with the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation. I now integrate brain wellness techniques into my classes, helping students support their cognitive health.

I recently began incorporating QiGong into my teaching and leading seated and standing QiGong classes. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how effectively just a few minutes of consistent QiGong practice has calmed my nervous system and enhanced my brain health. I'm excited to share these simple yet powerful techniques with you.

About Tracey Drake

I was born and raised on a tiny island called Guernsey, located between England and France. My parents and extended family still live there, and I visit when possible.

But in August 1999, when I was 31, I came to Peterborough, Ontario and have lived in this area ever since. I cannot imagine not living near water. I love the outdoors, especially in summer, when I can spend time on and in the beautiful lakes in this area.

I share my love of the outdoors and of animals with my life partner, Graeme. We enjoy spending time with our families, walking our dogs, mucking out stalls and aging well together. You may see our adorable dogs, Chewy and Sophie, make appearances in my live online classes.

In addition to teaching and studying yoga, I work in a private horse barn caring for retired competition horses. I’ve loved horses since I was very young, and I began yoga with the aim of remaining strong and mobile so that I could work with them—and it’s worked!
